Dayton Air Suspension has launched an auxiliary safety and backup light system for trailers.

Nite-Lites are designed to improve vehicle safety at night on the road as well as improve visibility at loading docks when light is less than ideal.

Dayton reports that a high percentage of accidents occur when a truck is being backed up.

“Backing up is tricky for truck drivers, especially at night, and leads to the highest frequency of incidents, while night driving presents challenges as well,” a Dayton representative says.

“Nite-Lites can help reduce the risk but are not a guarantee in this instance. Truck drivers, therefore, need to follow recommended procedures to maximize safety.”

Nite-Lites are designed with safety in mind. When the turn signal is activated, the side light will stay on continuously. Back-up mode is activated through the 4-way flasher switch which will keep rear and side-lights continuously lit during those precarious times in reverse.

The lights increase safety during dark commutes on roads and highways and shed some light in dark parking lots and loading docks.

Nite-Lites meet DOT FMSCA 49 CFR Part 393 and are weather resistant.

The Nite-Lites system requires no modification to the tractor. The LED lights may last for up to 100,000 hours. Polycarbonate lenses prevent corrosion, water damage and declines in performance from road grime.

The lights generate little heat and have minimal voltage drop. Instant activation is designed to improve safety and reduce the risks of injuries, fatalities and equipment damage.
