Clean Energy Fuels is offering renewable natural gas (RNG) at $1 per gallon for heavy-duty trucks powered by a Cummins Westport ISX12N natural gas engine.

The first 250 trucks that qualify for Clean Energy’s Redeem Dollar Deal program will be able to fill up for one year at $1 per gallon at stations throughout California. Redeem Dollar Deal is part of Clean Energy’s Zero Now solution which promotes next generation natural gas engine technology.

“By pairing the cleanest fuel available with the cleanest engine technology, Zero Now provides heavy duty truck fleets with a true zero-emissions solution that can be easily and economically adopted today,” said Andrew Littlefair, president and CEO of Clean Energy Fuels. “At a time when the price of dirty diesel is bumping up to $3.75 a gallon in California, paying only $1 a gallon for a year for clean Redeem can go a long way to recouping the cost of a new truck. Add in the grants available in California for new clean trucks, the Zero Now special offer makes it a no-brainer to switch to renewable natural gas.”

The new Cummins Westport natural gas engines achieve the lowest internal combustion emissions levels in North America, “yet delivers diesel caliber performance with reliability and durability,” Clean Energy reports.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board certified these engines in December 2017 at CARB’s optional Low NOx standard of 0.02 g/bhp-hr, or 90 percent lower emissions than the current EPA NOx standard. In fact, the new engines were tested at 0.01 g/bhp-hr, achieving virtually zero tailpipe emissions. According to Clean Energy, Redeem RNG is made entirely from organic waste and is up to 70 percent cleaner than diesel.

Clean Energy, which operates 23 stations throughout California, will help customers navigate through the grant application process. To learn more about the Zero Now fueling solution and the special $1 per gallon offer visit www.CleanEnergyFuels.com.
