Anthony Liftgates, Inc. and eNow, Inc. have formed a partnership to develop a solar power liftgate battery charging option.
“We are pleased to be able to offer Anthony Liftgates customers this solar innovation to enhance performance and improve bottom line,” says Tom Walker, president, Anthony Liftgates.
The 100-watt eCharge Solar Battery Charger is easily installed on any vehicle with a liftgate, the company says, adding tests have shown the system keeps batteries at or near a full charge throughout the truck’s delivery cycle.
Since batteries are never left in a discharged or partially charged state, battery life is extended from 1-4 years depending on battery type. The company estimates payback at one year or less.
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved the use of eNow’s solar-powered auxiliary power system on heavy-duty diesel fueled vehicles.
