Police in Philadelphia are still looking for a tow truck driver that they suspect shot a man to death over a towing turf dispute.
Police say video surveillance shows Donnell Miller Jr. driving off in his tow truck around 2 a.m. Saturday after fatally shooting a man in the parking lot of the Sunoco fuel station in the neighborhood of Parkside.
“It shows them having an argument and then it escalated to a point where Donnell Miller Jr. went back to his truck and retrieved a handgun,” Philadelphia Police Capt. John Ryan told 6abc.com.
After being shot, Kyle Brantley managed to get back inside his Nissan Titan where he apparently put the truck in drive before collapsing in the front seat. The truck then rolled across the street and crashed into a pole.
Miller Jr.’s father, Donnell Miller Sr., has been operating M1 Towing with his son and was present during the shooting. Police say he’s been cooperating during the investigation.
Police later seized Miller Jr.’s tow truck but have not been able to find him.
Both of the Millers have prior arrests for assault as well as gun and drug-related offenses.
The Millers were interviewed this past summer by abc6.com during its investigation into tow truck drivers who skirt the city’s rotational tow system. Miller Jr. became visibly upset when an abc6.com reporter asked him why he had shown up to an accident scene with his tow truck even though he did not have permission from police to do so.
