Nearly 250,000 Ram heavy-duty pickups are being recalled over fire concerns in the engine compartment.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration a transmission fluid leak may lead to a fire in 2020-2023 Ram 2500 and 2020-2022 Ram 3500 trucks equipped with a Cummins 6.7-liter diesel.

A build-up of pressure and heat inside the transmission may cause transmission fluid to leak from the dipstick tube. A remedy is currently under development.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 30, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is ZA3.
