Medium-duty movement

The medium-duty marketplace is action packed, and that’s a good thing for innovation.

Last week, Ram Trucks confirmed the company is looking to begin production of a new, smaller Fiat-based cargo van.

The yet-to-be-named van will follow it’s bigger sister, the Fiat-based ProMaster, which is set for production later this summer.

This news follows headlines that Chevrolet and Nissan will partner on a cargo van of their own.

Happenings aren’t limited to the cargo van sector. Big things are happening with heavier trucks, too.

Also last week, Navistar announced it would bring its Cummins SCR partnership to its medium-duty MaxxForce engines after the first of next year.

The heavy-duty counterparts of these engines have been met with positive reviews, and the implementation of this technology is surely good news for International loyalists looking for more modern emission controls.

Also in the medium duty marketplace, you’ll find the most widely adapted uses of natural gas, alternative fuels and hybrid vehicles.

Options are friends of the marketplace and are what drives competition and innovation.
