Repowered NGV Alliance LLC (RNGVA) announced at the 2015 ACT Expo Wednesday the availability of its remanufactured CNG DT466 system for pre-2004 International trucks and school buses.
RNGVA provides a complete system, including a dedicated CNG DT466 remanufactured engine, CNG fuel system, fill panel, CNG tank(s), installation at an authorized installer with a 1 year, 50,000 mile system warranty included.
The engine is EPA compliant for 49 states for out of useful life vehicles (OUL) with CARB certification anticipated in mid-2015,” says Dr. John Reed, Chief Administrative Officer of North American Repower.
The fill panel and tanks are pre-engineered for installation on a variety of International 4000 and 4300 series trucks, plus 3800 and 3300 series school buses with fuel capacities up to 80.6 DGE.
Dr. Reed says the engine and vehicle system has been tested throughout the country in all possible environmental and driving conditions.
“In addition,” he says, “two special accelerated engine durability stress tests have been run at McLaren Performance Technologies, a noted engine and racing technology company. Trucks have also been in customer fleet service at a Beta fleet in Richmond, Calif.”
Engines are remanufactured to like-new specifications by Springfield Remanufacturing Company. During the remanufacturing process, components specific to CNG operation and durability are installed along with traditional remanufacturing methods and components to provide an engine that is an improvement to the original DT466 workhorse diesel engine in medium duty trucks, but modified to retain those durability and performance characteristics as a CNG engine and vehicle. With CNG operation comes remarkably smooth and quiet operation not seen in diesels. Engines are available in 190, 210 and 230 horsepower versions, with torque curves that match the original diesel engines of same power ratings.
Installations can be scheduled in approximately 6-8 weeks, and take three business days to complete.
