F-Series wins ‘Truck of Texas’ honors

Updated Oct 19, 2015

Ford F-Series wass named Truck Line of Texas by Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), and Pro Trailer Backup Assist, debuting on the 2016 Ford F-150, takes home Best Technology honors.

Nearly 70 TAWA journalists put trucks to the test on a grueling off-road track at the association’s annual Texas Truck Rodeo, hosted this year at Knibbe Ranch, north of San Antonio.

The Truck Line of Texas award underscores that F-150 and Super Duty are the toughest, smartest and most capable F-Series trucks ever. In addition to being the best-selling truck in Texas, F-Series has been the top-selling truck in the United States for 38 consecutive years and the best-selling vehicle for 33 consecutive years.

The 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum unseated a competitor that had held the spot for five straight years to earn the SUV of Texas title. Building on 25 years of innovation and leadership, the 2016 Explorer offers more smart technology, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine and an enhanced driving experience. With nearly 7 million built, America’s best-selling SUV is more ready than ever to #ExploreMore.

TAWA members tested many new vehicle technologies, honoring F-150 Pro Trailer Backup Assist with the Best Technology award. Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes it easy for novices and trailering experts to back up a trailer by simply turning a knob – reducing time and improving confidence. Pro Trailer Backup Assist is available on the 2016 Ford F-150.
