420 Plaintiffs Join Blatt in Lawsuit Against Carfax

As of August 23, 2013, 420 plaintiffs have joined Bellavia Blatt in the mass action lawsuit filed against Carfax. The additional plaintiffs were in result of Carfax’s increased potential liability of more than $150 million.

The lawsuit states that Carfax’s exclusive contracts with industry insiders forced auto dealers to sign costly agreements for vehicle history reports. The alleged illegal, anticompetitive practices enabled Carfax to overcharge dealers. These practices increased costs to dealers and ultimately customers by hundreds of millions of dollars.

The lawsuit demands a jury trial and three times the damages, interest and attorney’s fees. Because of the potential gain, dealers are joining the lawsuit daily. Bellavia is leading the lawsuit.
