S&B Filter Upgrade

S&B Cold-Air Intake Upgrade

Miles: 15,561

Spent a couple hours this morning in the garage upgrading Bedrock’s stock air intake with S&B Filter’s new performance version (#75-5059) for the 5.3L.

Upgrade a relatively simple one that anyone with the most basic of hand tools can do.

The hardest part was getting the crankcase vent line loose from the stock air plenum.

Instructions say to rotate it counterclockwise but the stiff plastic hose that connects it to the metal tube on the intake manifold does’t flex. What a bitch.

The rest of the upgrade/installation was a breeze. S&B designed for both looks and performance.

Went for a quick hot lap up the street.

Sounds wicked under full throttle and seems to be a good compliment for the Corsa Commercial exhaust and Airaid TB spacer already on the truck.

Feels like the truck has a little more power in mid- upper rpm than it did before the S&B was added. S&B says the new filter flows 39% more air than the OE intake.

I believe it.
