In this case, a truck driver in Illinois was tracked and followed by his boss who suspected him of stealing diesel fuel.
The detective work paid off for the Lake Geneva fuel distributor who caught Frank J. Perrone, 37, filling up trucks in Spring Grove and Fox Lake, Ill.
In addition to eyewitness accounts and photographs taken of Perrone reselling the fuel, satellite images showed him working a long line of trucks, according to kenoshanews.com.
Perrone was charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing 14,775 gallons, or roughly $36,279 worth of diesel over a period of several months.
Perrone said a misunderstanding tied to his truck’s fuel management system is to blame.
