Manitex to buy trailer tank-maker Sabre

Manitex International Inc., a maker of boom trucks, rough terrain cranes, rough terrain forklift-type trucks, container handling equipment and specialized trailers, has acquired all of the assets of Sabre Manufacturing LLC, a maker of specialty-type trailer tanks, for $14 million.

in May, Manitex said it would begin making and selling a new top-of-the-line Manitex TC700- model, 70-ton, truck-mounted telescopic cranes during the second half of this year at a plant in Georgetown, Texas.

It said the CE-compliant Manitex TC700-model telescopic truck cranes would be configured for mount on five and six-axle trucks with 12 volt or 24 volt electrical systems, as well as with 8Ă—4 chassis and sub-frames of varying rails and widths.

The acquisition closed Aug. 19.
