BDS & Zone Lift Kit NHTSA Certified
FMVSS 126 Certification complies with the NHTSA new vehicle sales requirements
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) established the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 126 requiring all passenger vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVWR to include an Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system as standard equipment.
FMVSS 126 is a test that validates ESC functionality.
Effective August of 2012 this law requires aftermarket products to be certified to this same standard.
BDS Suspension and Zone Offroad Products one of the first suspension manufacturers to fully certified under FMVSS No. 126 (Electronic Stability Control) for new vehicle sales.
This isn’t self certification, but rather a collaboration between Chrysler, SEMA, Mickey Thompson, Link Engineering and the Sport Truck USA engineering team.
This independent engineering analysis certified that both BDS Suspension and Zone Offroad Products are in compliance with all of the requirements of FMVSS 126 for the Dodge Ram 1500 4WD. The specific certification was performed on the following configuration:
- Vehicle: Dodge Ram 1500 4WD 4 door short box
- Suspension: 6″ BDS and Zone Suspension Systems
- Tires: Mickey Thompson 37 x 13.50 R18 ATZ tires
- Wheels: 18″ Dick Cepek Torque Wheels
BDS Suspension and Zone Offroad Products are not aware of any Dodge lifted suspension systems on the market today that are independently certified under FMVSS 126 to comply with the NHTSA new vehicle sales requirements.
This accomplishment is just a small representation of the large investment by the Sport Truck USA team to produce the safest and highest quality product on the market today.
BDS also offers FMVSS-validated lift kits for Ford and GM trucks.
