Bob Tyler has always had love for hunting and fishing. However, the mess caused by a long day of trudging through mud and snow with his lab was taking a toll on his SUV. He wanted something washable that he could place in the cargo area of his SUV and protect his vehicle’s carpet…and when he couldn’t find one, he decided to make one.
And so, in 1988, Bob Tyler designed the original custom fit cargo liner and set in motion one of today’s most successful automotive accessory companies, Husky Liners®.
The success of the cargo liner spawned many new innovations based on vehicle specific custom fit protection. Husky’s custom-fit X-act Contour mats are what is protecting the carpets of Big Red, our 2008 GMC Crew Cab Dually.
Husky Liners® expanded its brand to include Custom Fit Front and Back Seat Floor Liners, Heavy Duty Floor Mats, Custom Molded Mud Guards, Aluminum Tailgates and Contractor Racks, Gear Box® Under Seat Storage Boxes, Husky Shield® Paint and Head Light Protection Film, Quad Caps™ Bed Rail Caps and a variety of other products to serve the automotive aftermarket.
In the last 20 years Husky Liners® has grown to a 197,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution operation and become one of the automotive aftermarket’s leading sources for custom fit floor and cargo liners as well as many other automotive aftermarket accessories.
Today Winfield Consumer Products, Inc / Husky Liners® is a privately held company, whose primary business consists of designing, manufacturing and supplying automotive accessories for light trucks, SUV’s, vans and cars to the aftermarket.
