Our  History

The company was originally founded by Tom Burnett in 1978 under the name “The Seat Cover Shop”. All they sold at that time were saddleblanket seat covers, now branded Tough Guy Seat Covers.

In 1979 Tom moved to Billings to take over the running of another shop he had started there.

While in Billings Tom took on three partners. They moved the Billing shop from Moore Lane to Central Avenue and changed the name to “Saddleman Seat Covers” in 1980.

Business boomed and they added running board installation, sunroof installation, sheepskin seat covers and even musical automobile horns to their product and service lineup. The partners wanted to become manufacturers while Tom envisioned a franchised fleet of retail custom installation shops across the nation.

So the partners took the Saddleman name and Tom took the Billings and Bozeman locations back as a sole proprietor and changed the name to “Enduro Seat Covers”. Stores were started in Great Falls and Missoula as well.

The Billings store was eventually sold and Tom started up a new location in Helena and changed the name to “Marathon Seat Covers”. In 1982 all but the Bozeman location were sold to their store managers. In about 1987 the Bozeman store moved to the corner of Main and Rouse in Bozeman. In 1990 the business relocated to its present site on Griffin Drive.

In 1999 Tom discovered an enthusiastic demand for camouflage seat covers and to service that market developed the “Superhides” brand, made of waterproof, puncture proof nylon Cordura.

In the beginning of 2007 the company was acquired by Montana Ventures LLC, a small private investment firm. All of the employees have stayed with the company and we continue to focus on making the highest quality seat covers available today.

We still believe that if we continue to care about customer satisfaction, quality of products and sound management, we will continue to grow and prosper.
