PORTER-CABLE announces the launch of two new groundbreaking infrared thermometers
TOWSON, Md. (Sept. 20, 2011) – PORTER-CABLE announces the launch of two new groundbreaking Infrared Thermometers, including the PCC581B that is compatible with 18 Volt PORTER-CABLE Lithium Ion or NiCd batteries, and the PCC582B that is compatible with standard 9 Volt alkaline batteries. The thermometers incorporate an innovative temperature indicator beam specifically designed to provide a quick and easy indication of a temperature change. The products are also designed for use by remodelers, HVAC professionals and energy specialists.
“After extensive field research, PORTER-CABLE developed these new infrared thermometers to deliver the accurate, user-friendly and reasonably priced infrared tool that professionals require,” said Jim Stewart, cordless product manager, PORTER-CABLE. “The easy to view temperature indicator beam incorporated into each of these units, as well as their value, will set them apart from other professional models on the market.”
The thermometers’ temperature indicator beams allow professionals to identify temperature differences in a room. With the click of a trigger, the units are turned on and take a reference temperature reading while displaying a green circle beam onto the surface at which it is aimed. The color of the beam changes when a difference in temperature is detected as it is scanned across an area; a blue beam identifies a cool spot, and a red beam shows a hot spot.
The temperature indicator beam can be used to find air leaks around doors, windows or ductwork, or where insulation is missing, helping to detect areas where energy efficiency can be improved. The units can be used by HVAC professionals and in facilities maintenance to check running temperatures of bearings or motors. Electricians can also use this product to find hot spots on electrical panels.
The thermometers have a working temperature range of -22 to 590 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature accuracy of plus/minus 1.8 degrees, and a 12:1 distance to spot ratio for accuracy. Additionally, the thermometers offer ten memory settings that allow users to record measurements in different locations or remember readings in hard-to-reach areas. A backlit LCD screen provides visibility in dim lighting, and a lens cap ensures the unit is protected during transportation.
Available in November 2011 at Lowe’s, Amazon.com and the independent channel, the PCC581B and PCC582B will each retail for approximately $59.97. The PCC581B will sell as a bare tool, meaning that the battery and charger are sold separately. Both the PCC581B and PCC582B models come equipped with a three-year limited warranty, one-year service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee.
