A temporary ban applying to commercial vehicles weighing 10,001 pounds or more will take effect this week on an interstate that travels through Dallas.
A major highway project in Dallas on I-35E is not expected to be completed until 2017, and in the interim, large trucks will not be able to use the left lane of the highway from the LBJ Freeway in Dallas to Swisher Road in Lake Dallas and Hickory Creek starting this Thursday, The Dallas Morning News reports.
The move to temporarily ban large trucks from using the left lane is expected to keep construction crews safer as they work on the highway. The restriction applies to commercial vehicles, such as buses, delivery trucks and equipment trucks.
