An anticipated 10 percent drop-off in demand this year for its new trucks led Daimler Trucks to announce Tuesday that it will cutting 1,250 jobs at two of its locations in North Carolina.
As of April 16, the Daimler truck plant in Cleveland, N.C. will be cutting 550 jobs, while the plant in Mount Holly, N.C. will be losing 700 jobs, Reuters reports.
Last week, Daimler announced that it had opened a new 225,000 square foot parts distribution center in Dallas, Texas which will serve its associated brands Freightliner, Western Star, Detroit, Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner Custom Chassis and Alliance Truck Parts.
