Ram recalls 131K trucks over software issue

Ram is recalling 131,700 of its 2021 1500 pickups because of a software issue that may cause an engine stall.

Affected trucks are equipped with 5.7L eTorque engines. The powertrain control module software may cause an incorrect fuel mixture condition in the engine and result in an engine stall which can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the powertrain control module calibration software free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 2, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 37A.

Overall, the 2021 Ram 1500 has faced ten recalls including a 'Do not Drive' recall issued by NHTSA in 2021 owed to a faulty brake component that could lead to a crash. Nearly 700 trucks were impacted by NHTSA recall 21V037000.
