Mack Trucks is adding standard vertical shock absorbers on factory-installed auxiliary axles on Granite axle forward and axle back models the company announced at the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis Wednesday.
By absorbing and helping reduce excessive vibration, the shocks help improve durability of the auxiliary axles while also preventing uncontrolled axle hop and help users meet stringent bridge laws.
“It’s going to take some of the magnitude away from some of the inputs that come from the terrain,” says Tim Wrinkle, Mack Trucks construction product manager, adding that the reduction of vibration also increases the life of components and tires and improves driver comfort.
Mack factory-installed auxiliary axles feature Huck Bolt installation for added durability and are factory aligned and fully integrated. In addition to laser-engraved axle up/down switches on the dash, operation of the axle is preprogramed to raise when reverse is selected and during key-off.
