As part of its “Smart Logistics” theme at IAA 2018, ZF announced it is rolling out zero-emission axles for all vehicle classes and has received more than 1,000 orders for its AxTrax AVE electric portal axles as the growth of electric-driven commercial vehicles continues to grow worldwide.

ZF said that when in service the axles will contribute 37 million zero-emission miles annually in cities like Los Angeles, London or Stuttgart.

ZF also said it received a volume-production order for its new CeTrax electric central drive for deployment in shunting vehicles. The electric axle drive system for light commercial vehicles will go into volume production in mid-2019.

The company also completed a field test in conjunction with DAF of the TraXon hybrid commercial vehicle transmission that demonstrated fuel savings of up to 7 percent with all-electric and hybrid operation.
