Ford is recalling certain 2016 Transit Connect vans over concerns with the brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).
Ford states that the HCU may be contaminated with metallic debris, which would be in violation of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, “Electronic Stability Control Systems.”
If the brake HCU pump is contaminated, the performance of the electronic stability control and related brake systems may degrade, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners and dealers will replace the brake HCU pump, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on August 15. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673 and refer to recall 16C10.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
