Amid an overall drop in sales for January, demand remains high for Ford’s Transit vans.

The automaker reports today that it sold 51 percent more Transit vans this past month over the same time last year.

With 9,631 Transit sales in January, Ford states that it’s their best van start since 1985.

While that’s good news, F-Series recent January sales at 51,540 vehicles presents a 5 percent drop from January 2015. F-Series average transaction pricing grew $2,500 last month, while incentive spending was down $500 a year ago.

“We continue seeing strong commercial fleet orders for F-150 and will be filling more orders this year,” says Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. marketing, sales and service.

“As the largest seller of commercial vehicles, this represents good news for Ford trucks and the overall economy.”

Overall, Ford sold 173,723 vehicles last month, which is a 3 percent drop from its sales in January 2015.
