Daimler increased its worldwide Sprinter van sales last year by 9 percent with a record 321,000 vehicles sold.
In the U.S., consumers bought roughly 28,600 Sprinters in 2015, which is an 11 percent increase over the prior year, according to automotiveworld.com.
The company says fleet sales in Europe and abroad are largely behind its record numbers.
Sprinter vans will eventually be manufactured in the U.S. at a $500 million plant that Mercedes says it will begin building this year in Charleston, S.C.
