Backing up a trailer can be tough particularly for drivers unfamiliar with the task.
To help make the job easier, Ford offers its Pro Trailer Assist which is new for 2020 Super Duty trucks.
To learn more we turned to Don Mattern, trailer technology supervisor at Ford, who showed us how to steer using a dash-mounted knob and Ford’s six camera views. Mattern gave the demo in a 2020 F-250 Tremor with Ford’s new 7.3-liter gasser.
In the video below, watch how the steering wheel turns as Mattern turns the knob on the dash. Once the spring-loaded knob is released, it will default to zero degrees and provide straight, hands-free backing. Camera views, including a 360-degree overhead view, keep you informed of the truck’s surroundings.
