Recall: Hood may fly open on 2020 Chevy Silverado and 2020 GMC Sierra

2020-Chevy-Silverado-HD-2

GM is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 vehicles over concerns that the hood may open unexpectedly while driving.

The hood-latch striker wires may not have been heat-treated properly during production which can lead to a fracture and cause the hood to open and increase the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hood assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 26, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267. GM’s number for this recall is N192284960. At least 1,909 trucks are expected to be affected.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
