Ford recalls 2019 F-250, F-350 over possible axle failure

2019-F-350

Ford is recalling 2019 F-250 and F-350 pickups over concerns of possible axle failure.

Certain 2019 F-250 and F-350 trucks equipped with electronically locking rear differentials may be prone to a malfunction in the passenger side rear axle shaft.

A broken passenger side rear axle could result in a loss of drive power and the inability to hold the vehicle still when in Park. If the parking brake is not applied, unintended vehicle movement can occur, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall affects 28,579 trucks.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the passenger side rear axle shaft, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 21, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 19S31.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. Refer to NHTSA Campaign Number 19V688000.
