Bollinger Motors, a startup auto manufacturer in Hobart, New York revealed the first image of its versatile all-electric vehicle which can be used either as a pickup or SUV.

Bollinger describes the vehicle as an all-wheel-drive medium-duty truck that was designed from the ground-up with an aluminum chassis, adjustable hydropneumatic suspension, convertible cab panels and a dual motor, all-electric drivetrain that’s expected to deliver best-in-class horsepower and torque.

The vehicle will debut this July in New York as the first all-electric, production-ready truck of its class. Pre-orders are available through the company’s website.

“When I designed this truck, I wanted it to have rugged good looks with a very bold presence,” said Robert Bollinger, the company’s founder and CEO. “I envisioned the vehicle as the ultimate truck for work and play which would be the perfect truck for ranchers, builders, DIYers and off-roaders but without the environmental effects and carbon footprint of a traditional gas-powered SUV.”

Hard Working Trucks verified that the vehicle can be used as either a pickup or SUV.

“Yes, it is completely reconfigurable with removable body panels and seating including the SUV convertible cab panel which gives it the SUV profile,” Jeff Holland, Bollinger Motors chief marketing officer, told HWT.

When asked if companies have expressed any interest yet in the truck, Holland explained, “This was really our first announcement so we’re real early in the game but we fully expect interest to come from fleet customers as well as government agencies like U.S. Parks & Forestry, Fish & Game and even the military as this truck fits perfectly with a number of Clean Fleet initiatives.”

Holland said the truck will be manufactured in the U.S. and that pricing will be competitive with other full-size trucks and SUVs.

Though official MPGe, range, torque and horsepower ratings are not yet available, Bollinger Motors remains very confident in its prototype.

“By designing the truck from the ground up, we are creating a unique vehicle capable of exceptional off-road performance, combined with never before seen utility features,” the company states on its website. “The all-electric, dual-motor drivetrain creates best-in-class horsepower and torque. All-wheel drive and 50-50 weight distribution provide unbeatable traction, and the suspension delivers best-in-class ground clearance. The end result is the perfect truck for work and play.”
