Project Super Crew Logbook
June 15, 2011
Spent the morning at Truck Supply working with Joe Riexinger,Cequent Groups’ head trainer for hitch installations.
He just installed a Reese Titan weight-distributing hitch on the Landoll trailer the Super Crew is towing. Installation went quickly. Looks cool.
Just made a trip down the interstate and over some country road with the Bobcat in tow and W-D installed.
Can’t believe the driving/handling difference between yesterday and today. It’s like I’m driving a completely different truck.
Now ol’ Super Crew is as stable as can be. The braking is back to normal. The steering solid and steady. No bobbles. No sway. No jerkiness. It tows the Bobcat like it’s not even there.
The Titan W-D hitch is fast to hook-up, too, so there’s no reason NOT to use a W-D.
Ford’s new 6.7L and trans setup are really ideal for this application. Wish we had lower gears, though; the stock 3.31 gears are too tall. This truck really needs 3.73s or 4.10s to perform like I’d like it to.
We should seriously think about a gear swap later in the project build….Bruce Smith
