With a two-stroke engine that delivers quick acceleration and an advanced hull design that helps ensure stability and responsiveness, the Jet Ski® 800 SX-R™ is the ultimate personal watercraft thrill machine. The SX-R has been the best-selling stand up model for the last three years running, proving it’s the class leader. As it enters the 38th and final year of production– the 800 SX-R will bear special colors and graphics, to recognize the 37 years of liquid fun that preceded it. Kawasaki will enhance the 2011 model with a special badge that reads: “Commemorating 37 Years of Jet Ski.”
This compact yet powerful watercraft churns out 699 pounds of thrust – the most ever offered in a production Kawasaki stand-up – through its 781cc two-stroke engine. Aggressive exhaust port timing, a large-diameter exhaust pipe and a waterproof, maintenance-free capacitor discharge ignition (CDI) system with digital advance all contribute to the SX-R’s impressive top-end power.
Non-riders will be pleased by the 800 SX-R too; a water jacket around the exhaust pipe helps cool exhaust gasses, and boosts reliability as well by reducing under hood temperatures. A freshwater flush fitting that fits a standard garden hose also helps with reliability, by making it a snap to rinse out the motor’s cooling lines after a day on the water.
Exceptional stability and turning dexterity are trademarks of the 800 SX-R’s innovative hull design. The same stability that enhances its rough-water handling for racers makes it easier for beginners to master stand-up riding quicker. Its spacious footwell area gives the rider room to maneuver, vary foot placement and shift body weight. Additionally, the handlepole placement offers optimum control and comfort, and soft padding over the tray area improves rider comfort even further.
The fiberglass reinforced plastic construction of the 800 SX-R hull and top deck helps to make the hull as light as possible yet tough and damage-resistant. Extra fiberglass is also applied in key areas to further improve hull durability. Sponsons are just under the hull/top deck bond line to enhance turning.
The rugged fiberglass material combined with the integrated foam flotation built into the deck and handlepole make the 800 SX-R virtually unsinkable. The hull’s compact size also simplifies transport and storage – it fits in the bed of a standard-sized pickup truck!
