A Georgia commercial truck dealer was so impressed with the quiet performance of the 2018 Isuzu FTR Class 6 truck that he shot video of the truck as it ran past him in a parking lot and later posted it on YouTube.

Isuzu’s highly anticipated medium-duty truck isn’t expected to hit the market until the latter half of 2017, but dealers are already getting test-drive opportunites, like Bellamy Strickland Commercial Truck in Atlanta.

“After being blown away by the power and performance, the quiet cab, the maneuverability, and the 9.8 MPG fuel performance, it was time to say farewell,” Bellamy commercial account manager Michael Olden wrote on the company’s YouTube site. “My jaw dropped and my phone came out as this truck is so darn quiet on the outside too! Listen and judge for yourself. I trust you will agree, especially when you hear my voice at the end.”

The 2018 Isuzu FTR will be offered with the company’s proven 4HK1-TC 4-cylinder, 5.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine, a segment first.

“This is going to be one of those trucks that’s going to lead that path. People don’t necessarily need all that horsepower and torque, especially in an urban area where our truck sells very well. The maneuverability, the visibility of the truck is probably going to be one of the best in class, for sure,” Brian Tabel, executive director of marketing at Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, told Hard Working Trucks in March following the unveiling of the truck at the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.
