It is a beauty among beasts.

A restored 1970 Chevrolet C10 sat parked at the edge of a lot away from the other mostly white and undeniably used pickups this week at the Ritchie Bros. Auction in Orlando.

The blue C10 (Lot #5473) is one of 113 pickups up for auction today. Other items include flatbeds, boom trucks, bucket trucks, tow trucks, trailers, motor homes and so much more (see list below). Bidders are welcome to participate online, on-site or through proxy.

Continuing with Ritchie Bros.’ push to engage more buyers and sellers online, the C10 and 10,064 other items up for sale this week have been available for viewing online prior to auction and can be seen live during the event.

This year buyers who make the pilgrimage to Orlando have been able to more quickly find and inspect items on the 240-acre site prior to bidding by using the company’s latest app feature.

Ritchie Bros. Group President Jim Barr talked about the GPS-enabled feature at a press conference that Hard Working Trucks attended in Orlando earlier this week:

“A new feature we added just for this auction—we tested it in Phoenix just a few weeks ago—is something we call Wayfinding. This is a pretty cool feature. We’re going to keep adding these over time.

“It knows where you are and we have mapped the entire yard. You can pick any of those 10,000 pieces of equipment and it’s like giving you Google Maps to get there. It will tell you precisely where it is.”

Barr said customers have been impressed with the location device. Each year Ritchie Bros. holds more than 120 auctions in the U.S. (350 globally) and its Orlando auction is considered the Super Bowl of them all. This week, 10,065 items were readied for unreserved bidding. Sellers can use a refurbishing service located onsite prior to listing an item.

Equipment for every industry is up for bid, with particularly large selections of gear for the construction, transportation and lifting industry. Hundreds of excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, tractor trailers, aerial work platforms, cranes and much more.

Besides the Chevy C10, buyers will have a chance to bid on Dodge, Ford, GMC, Nissan and Toyota trucks. Bidding, which is open to the public, starts at 8 a.m. EST. Buyers can register online. A tutorial video on the bidding process is posted below.
