David Hance and his New York Dump Trucks team are proud to handle all of your heavy hauling needs. At least that’s what some of marketing material say.

And I’m sure they’ll gladly do whatever it is you need. Within reason. However, the manner in which Hance can handle your heavy hauling needs may be what makes him unique.

Hance drag raced his 2015 Mack Granite dump truck at the 39th Annual U.S. Diesel Truckin’ Nationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J. earlier this month.

A widely respected local drag racer (he’s set multiple records with his Pro Mod and Outlaw 10.5 cars and is the founder of the Shakedown at E-Town), Hance used his truck to have a little fun and, maybe, drum up a little busiess.

The 32,000 pound Mack Granite dump truck ran in the Heavy Truck Class, and when Hance crossed the beams, the clocks showed that he and his dump truck had run the quarter mile in 22.94 seconds at a speed of 59 mph.

Not exactly a blistering pace. It’s a far cry from his usual 250-plus mph, 5-second runs with his twin turbocharged 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Pro Mod race car.
