Shell Lubricants has introduced Shell Rotella T6 10W-30 full synthetic heavy duty diesel engine oil, a formulation designed to provide better wear performance compared to conventional and synthetic blend Shell Rotella 15W-40 and 10W-30 products while also delivering improved fuel economy capability of 2% compared to SAE 15W-40 heavy duty engine oils.

“We're excited to be able to bring a product that delivers very strong wear protection that our customers and consumers have come to expect from us but in a low viscosity where they get that fuel economy benefit especially at a time right now where prices are quite high in the diesel space,” said Shell Rotella North America brand manager Annie Peter.

Advanced additive technology and synthetic base oils, dubbed Triple Protection, provides protection against wear, deposits and oil breakdown plus and seeks to deliver improved equipment protection, long engine life and maintain viscosity control under high temperatures.

Shell said its Rotella T6 10W-30 offers extreme temperature protection in hot conditions and improved cold start performance in cold weather so that the oil reaches critical engine parts in cold temperatures. It has a pour point of -49 °F and -45 °C.

The low-ash formulation facilitates lower oil consumption, increased protection against oxidation, improved corrosion control, and features a low ash formulation for emissions system compatibility.

Shell Rotella T6 10W-30 can be used in place of a 15W-40 engine oil in most instances and will be available for sale on Amazon.com beginning first quarter of 2023.
