Icy roads in Oregon lead to truck accidents

Oregon State Police responded to at least two ice-related truck accidents today one of which left a man seriously injured.

In Sandy, Oregon, a truck driver who had been putting on snow chains was struck by a vehicle around 7:45 a.m.

The driver, who was not identified, was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to kgw.com.

The accident occurred on the east bound side of U.S. 26. Police report that another driver lost control of their vehicle on the icy road and struck the truck driver who had been parked on the shoulder.

In a separate incident later this morning, a propane truck traveling on Oregon Route 126 slid off the road and crashed into a ditch in the community of McKenzie Bridge. The road was shut-down as authorities determined how best to remove the overturned truck.
