You never know who’s watching including the unblinking eye of video surveillance.

That was the tough lesson a tow truck driver in Miami learned recently after police there say he lied about a tow job gone wrong which left a teen driver and her family scared out of their wits.

A 17-year-old girl told the Miami Herald that on Friday she was driving her mother’s car when she pulled over in her neighborhood and watched a tow truck backing towards her.

Video surveillance caught by Ring.com shows that as the girl backed away from the truck onto the street, the truck quickly followed and was able to lift the front of the vehicle with the girl still inside.

Police were called to the scene where the tow truck driver denied lifting the car and said instead that he had only been attempting to stop the girl after she had side-swiped him. After reviewing the video, police arrested the driver and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest without violence.

The girl’s mother said the incident left the family shaken up.

“With everything going on in the world now, I freaked the hell out,” said Ani Rodriguez who provided footage of the truck driver’s arrest shown below. “I literally, in a matter of seconds, blacked out.”

The car remains with the family who said a mix-up on the part of the finance company led to the attempted repo, according to wsvn.com.
