Some might go fishing, others to the gym and some may just park their truck and surf the web.

Whatever the diversion, playing hooky is not as easy as it once was thanks to the prevalence of cameras and social media.

That was the tough lesson two sanitation workers learned recently in New York City when someone snapped a photo of a city trash truck parked outside of a dubious motel in Brooklyn. The picture ended on up Facebook the same day. DSNY (New York City Department of Sanitation) soon got word of the incident and launched an investigation.

Turns out the driver had dropped off his co-worker at a baseball game that day and then went to the motel where he met someone for about an hour, according to statements he gave to the city’s Conflict of Interest Board.

The driver, who earns nearly $79,000 a year, was given a 5-day suspension this week without pay. His co-worker received a 3-day suspension with no pay.

The motel that the driver used rents rooms by the hour and is frequented by drug dealers and prostitutes, according to the New York Post.
