EV startup Green4U in Braselton, Ga. is adding an electric pickup to its lineup of all-electric vehicles.
Drawing on 30 years of experience in racing and hybrid car development, Green4U will be building a 500,000 square foot factory in Braselton where, besides a pickup, it also plans on producing an electric compact car, various SUVs, cargo and passenger vans and busses.
“Our three decades of high-level motorsports design, engineering, fabrication and manufacturing experience helps us to fast-track vehicle development,” said Don Panoz, Green4U’s chairman and co-founder.
Though few details are available on Green4U’s double-cab pickup, it will be available with a lithium iron phosphate battery offering a starting range of 130 miles and it will sit atop an aluminum chassis.
“Our engineers designed a lightweight and strong aluminum chassis and are optimizing electric drivetrains and systems to deliver the range and performance that fleet operators need,” said Jack Perkowski, Green4U Technologies, Inc. CEO and co-founder.
“We’re focusing on fleet operators because they understand how EVs can greatly lower their operating costs,” Perkowski continued. “A company that has fleet vehicles traveling 50,000 miles a year can save thousands of dollars through lower fuel and maintenance costs.”
This past week, Green4U made its first appearance at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in Long Beach, Calif. Its large, six-door MTU-6 SUV (the only electric SUV at the week-long show) and Surge compact attracted plenty of attention.
On display were slides offering a glimpse at operational savings and frame construction.
“The green sections are the crush zones,” Green4U Technical Specialist Anh Nguyen said of the frame illustration shown below. “The step rails are integrated into the chassis to act as side impact absorption.”
No roll-out date has been announced yet for Green4U’s pickup, which is still under development. Body styling will be revised, Nguyen said, and will vary some from the photos the company released this week. Green4U imports its vehicle bodies from China.
