A truck driver who police say failed to set his parking brake was crushed to death by his own rig Saturday at a rest stop in Waterloo, Maryland.

Jose Amoa, 64, of Laurel, Md., who had stopped at a rest stop Saturday morning along I-95 South, was walking in between his semi and a dump truck when Maryland State Police say his truck rolled forward and pinned him against the back of the dump truck. Amoa was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Maryland State Police Crash team and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division report that Amoa had failed to set his truck’s parking brake which caused his rig to roll forward. According to investigators, there were no violations noted on the inspection report of Amoa’s truck. An investigation is still underway.
