Vanair Viper Diesel Air Compressor

Vanair Manufacturing, well-known as a supplier of truck-mounted air systems, used the 2014 The Work Truck Show to unveil their newest unit: the Viper Diesel.

The self-contained, 800-pound rotary-screw, 80CFM air compressor features state-of-the-art electronics to deliver enough power to run 1-1/2″ impact wrenches to 90-pound jack hammers.

The unit uses a Tier 4-certified Kubota diesel to run the compressor.  The engine’s speed is controlled by a V-TEC Vanair Total Electronic Control system that adjusts engine rpm to match the air flow needs so there’s no wasted fuel. The throttle control is infinitely variable.

Viper can also be programmed to shut down after, 5-, 10- or 15-minutes of non use, which further reduces fuel costs.

Vanair’s new compressor is just 47 inches wide so it fits easily in pickups and cab-chassis configurations. It can also be used as a stand-alone system with it’s 9-gallon fuel tank supplying diesel for a full day of work.
