ProPickup Names 2012 Truck of the Year Winners

Ford EcoBoost F-150 and GMC Sierra 2500HD Top Picks For Contractors’ Work Trucks

ProPickup magazine’s editors test drive every new full-size pickup that hits the market and evaluates them based on their performance related to the world of heavy construction and professional landscaping.

Towing ability, fuel economy, comfort and reliability weigh heavily in the evaluations.

From those driving experiences, ProPickup’s editorial staff selects one light-duty and one heavy-duty truck to receive the publication’s highest honor: ProPickup of the Year.

The 2012 ProPickup of the Year winners: Ford F-150 EcoBoost (Light-Duty) and 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD (Heavy-Duty).

“This year’s winners reflect what professional contractors want in a work truck: a balance of power, comfort, fuel economy, function and style,” says ProPickup’s founding editor, Bruce Smith.

“The competition in the full-size pickup market is fierce and the capabilities of the contenders closely matched. But Ford’s F-150 and GMC’s 2500HD Crew Cab 4×4 models have the edge this year,” says Smith.

“Ford’s V-6 EcoBoost delivers a new level of power, features and fuel economy in the half-ton pickup segment, while the Duramax-powered GMC Sierra provides the best overall balance of comfort and performance in the heavy-duty diesel market. These are two very deserving pickups.”

The magazine’s editors will present the awards during a special presentation that will take place during the ProPickupTruck Expo, August 23-25, in the Dallas Convention Center.
