BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trails history

The BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trails is a program dedicated to the responsible use and preservation of off-road trails. From 2006 to 2010, the Outstanding Trails program has recognized 24 off-road trails and 24 clubs across 16 states and two in Canada.  The program has provided more than $90,000 in grants in support of the various trails conservation efforts.

“BFGoodrich Tires is thrilled to recognize some of the best trails in the United States and the clubs that maintain them,” said Marcus Baffoe-Bonnie, country marketing manager, BFGoodrich Tires.  “We are proud to continue the Outstanding Trails tradition by supporting the conservation of these wonderful trails and showing our appreciation to the many off-road enthusiasts.”

BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trails Grant Activation

While 24 clubs and trails have been honored through 2010, each of the clubs have chosen to spend their grants differently, but all with the same goal in mind – responsible trail use.  Following are examples of how some of the clubs / trails have activated their grants:

Skyliners 4WD Club

BFGoodrich Tires presented the Skyliners 4WD Club with a grant honoring Blacktail/Wild Bill National Recreation Trail as a BFGoodrich Outstanding Trail.  Since being awarded the check, the Skyliners 4WD Club has given a grant of $1,000 to a neighboring club in Kalispell to aid them with improvements for the north end of the trail.  The club has also used the grant for various equipment rentals.  More than 1,031 hours of volunteer labor has been used on the trail.

Moab Friends-For-Wheelin’

Since the selection of the Pritchett Canyon trail in 2008, the Moab Friends-For-Wheelin’ club has held numerous work days installing fencing and signage, repairing damage and doing general maintenance on the trail. The Outstanding Trails grant has enabled the club to purchase materials and tools necessary to continue improvements on the trail.

San Diego 4 Wheelers

At a Dedication Ceremony held in the Superstition Mountain OHVA, the San Diego 4 Wheelers turned over a new information kiosk that displays a detailed map for the enthusiasts to enjoy. The club replaced the aging kiosk with funds provided from BFGoodrich Tires.

Georgia Bounty Runners 4WD Club

BFGoodrich Tires presented Georgia Bounty Runners 4WD Club with a grant in 2008, which has since been used towards the purchase of equipments to assist with trail maintenance for Beasley Knob.  The remaining funds will be used to add trails, additional camping areas and a restroom area pending a review from the Forest service.
