New Jersey State Police took to Facebook to comment on an unusual collision that took place recently on Interstate 287 between a truck carrying a load of cold cuts and a truck hauling bread.

After wishing a speedy recovery for one of the drivers who was taken to a local hospital with non-threatening injuries, Garden State police could not resist pointing out their surprise over the lunch-like encounter.

“Now, it’s not lost on us that bread and lunch meat collided on the highway. We don’t know what the odds are of this happening, but the only thing that could have made this stranger is an additional truck hauling mustard and pickles,” police posted.

“Anyway, the troops did not make roadside sandwiches, but we can’t help but think this is an omen of some kind.

“What could this mean? If you have an idea, let us know in the comments. In the meantime, if a truck carrying salsa crashes into a truck carrying corn chips, you’d better run for the hills!”

So far, the post has been shared 1,635 times and has generated 491 comments, which include: “Sad, but yet wow.” “They are a bunch of heroes.” “All you need now is a potato chips truck and you’re all set.” “If a produce truck showed up, it would be a party.”
