Trucks, vans getting greener as Green Car Journal announces award finalists

Green Car Journal has identified finalists for its Green Car Awards hosted annually by the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show in San Antonio, Texas.

2018 Green Truck of the Year finalists include the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford F-150, GMC Canyon, Honda Ridgeline, and Toyota Tacoma. Finalists for 2018 Commercial Green Car of the Year include the Ford F-250 Super Duty, Ford Transit Connect, Ford Police Responder Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz Metris, and RAM ProMaster City.

In contention for the 2018 Performance Green Car of the Year award are the Acura NSX, Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang, Honda Civic Type R, and Mazda MX-5 Miata.

“The diversity of this year’s award finalists shows just how aggressively environmental achievement is emerging in all vehicle classes,” said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and GreenCarJournal.com. “This year’s award finalists at the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show include pickups and vans, sports cars and sedans, hybrids and conventionally powered vehicles. Their common thread is increased efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and greater environmental performance.”

The Green Car Awards at the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show honor pickups, light commercial vehicles, and performance vehicles that feature greater efficiency and notable environmental achievement. Nominated vehicles will be on display in a special Green Car Awards Finalists Exhibit during the run-of-show. Winners will be announced at a Green Car Journal press conference on November 9.

“As we move toward the goal of efficiency in the industry, it is important to bring recognition to these transits, cars, and trucks so that more consumers are aware of all that they can do and how they can better impact the environment,” said Pam Crail, President of San Antonio Auto Dealers.
