Tragedy has struck the small, historic town of Norwood, Mass. where on Monday a truck driver accidentally struck and killed a co-worker while making a delivery.

The two Sunbird Transport workers had been attempting to drop off roofing supplies at a construction site around 3:30 p.m. Monday, when one of the workers towing a fifth-wheel flatbed ran over his co-worker while driving in reverse. The man was killed instantly, according to Norwood Police.

“It’s particularly difficult where the operator knew the victim, where they know each other and work together,” Norwood Police Chief Bill Brooks told boston.cbslocal.com.

The driver, who did not appear to be impaired, was very upset over the incident and agreed to go to the hospital at the encouragement of police.

Norwood, which is located in eastern Mass. near Boston, was settled in 1678.
