It wasn’t exactly a secret that Ford plans to roll out its NexGen Super Duty later this month, but those thirsting for up-to-the-second news next week now have a time.
Mike Levine, Ford Truck’s Communications Manager, tweeted Thursday that people living in the Eastern Time Zone should be able to enjoy their lunch with a serving of new pickup news. (Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the tweet.)
The 2017 Super Duty is expected to get a heavy … or is it lightweight?… dose of aluminum. High strength aluminum helped the 2015 F-150 shave 700 pounds, so you can expect weight savings on the much heavier Super Duty to exceed that.
Super Duty will feature a likely updated 6.7L Power Stroke diesel, from which Ford enthusiasts (the message board guys) expect to see a bump in horsepower and torque. Gasoline engine options for the Super Duty are plentiful and more difficult to predict, although moving forward with the 6.2 liter V8 is certainly possible.
You can also expect Super Duty to borrow some really cool technology features from F-150, like a 360-degree camera, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, SYNC3 and more.

Set for an unveil at the State Fair of Texas, Super Duty for the 2017 model year is in for some exterior changes, including what appears to be straighter lines and blockier stance.
