We’re in that weird and mostly useless part of the year where, unless you’re a basketball fan, there’s really no reason to exist.
Football is over. We’re still months from baseball season, and the Daytona 500 is still a few weeks away. But there’s hope on the horizon: Truck Day.
Truck Day is Major League Baseball’s equivalent of Groudhog Day, with the annual emergence of equipment haulers heading to warmer climates ahead of spring training.
The Phillies said via twitter the team is hauling 2,400 baseballs, 1,200 bats, one Phanatic hot dog launcher and more. Can’t forget that hot dog launcher.
The Red Sox told MLB.com their 53-foot trailer was loaded with 20,400 baseballs, 1,100 bats, 200 pairs of batting gloves, 200 batting helmets, 320 batting practice tops, 160 white game jerseys, 300 pairs of pants, 400 T-shirts, 400 pairs of socks, 20 cases of bubblegum and 60 cases of sunflower seeds.
