The Takata airbag recall continues.

All 2004-2006 Mazda B-Series trucks with driver-side Takata airbags are being recalled. The Japanese automaker had previously recalled its 2007-2009 B-Series trucks with passenger-side mounted Takata air bags.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports on its website that in the event of a crash, “the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.”

Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver side front air bag inflators free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 25, 2016. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mention Mazda recall number 9116A.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to www.safecar.gov.
