The City of Alpharetta, Ga. has created routes for trucks to keep them from cutting through residential areas.
The city’s public works and public safety departments created the map which relegates truck traffic to highways, unless they have a delivery to make in a residential area, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported today.
Residents who have complained about trucks traveling their streets to save time were relieved to hear about the city’s truck routes.
“This has been something we’ve talked about for several years,” Valerie Manley, a resident who lives on one of the affected streets, told city council. “We’ve seen the volume of heavy trucks go up. It’s cost me 12 mail boxes—no joke.”
