With Ford’s all-new 2017 Super Duty scheduled to get a heavy dose of aluminum, Ford announced Monday the company’s Ohio Assembly Plant will support additional production of chassis cab units.

Opened in 1974, Ohio Assembly Plant employs nearly 1,400 people and is one of the largest employers in Lorain County. In addition to the Super Duty chassis cab, Ohio Assembly produces the new Ford F-650 and F-750, Ford E-Series cutaway vans and stripped chassis.

Kevin Koswick, director, Ford North American Fleet, Lease and Remarketing Operations, says the Ohio plant, combined with the Kentucky Truck Plant, will produce F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty chassis cab configurations.

The Super Duty chassis cab gets a beefed up high-strength steel frame for 2017 and high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy body that allows for 350 pounds of weight savings.

Super Duty chassis cabs have three engine options, including a 6.2-liter gasoline V8, 6.8-liter gasoline V10 or 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo diesel V8.
